Derouillon is pleased to announce the bilingual Mandarin-English publication of huile de vitre, the first poetry collection by Shuo Hao, published by KERMESSE with the support of the gallery.
To mark this occasion, a public reading followed by a book signing with the artist and the publisher, Simon Gérard, will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Galerie Derouillon, Etienne Marcel.
The event is open to all, and the publication will be available for purchase on site.
“This book collects a series of short stories I wrote between 2023 and 2025. The title, huile de vitre (“Glass Oil” in English), is borrowed from Gaston Bachelard’s The Psychoanalysis of Fire. Glass oil is a substance that does not exist. The transformation of glass into oil resembles the mystical exchange between spirit and matter—where life becomes death, death is reborn, the five elements rotate, energy circulates, and all things are neither created nor destroyed, endless and infinite.” Shuo Hao
