"Arcanes, rituels et chimères"
Frac Corsica
To commemorate the centenary of the famous Surrealist manifesto, FRAC Corsica is staging a group exhibition exploring the contemporary relevance of a non-rational artistic approach. Featuring works mainly from the emerging art scene, this exhibition is presented as a journey through a space that is not defined by consciousness alone. Under the aegis of the historic figure of Leonora Carrington, shown here as their contemporary, the artists invited call on mystical practices and symbols to re-enchant a world imprisoned in a modern ideal of clarity and absolute control. In contrast to this still dominant movement, each work acts as an intercessor towards alternative realities, lines of flight that are both poetic and occult.
